The lost planet of Galvatrax IX drifted through the empty void of outer space. Long ago knocked off course by a freak seismic explosion, the planet found itself isolated and alone in an uncharted abyss.
The citizens that survived the incident had tried their best to reestablish contact with the rest of the galaxy. Communication towers were set to broadcast their location at regular intervals. Every ship capable of interstellar travel had been sent out to retrieve help. But not a single ship had returned, and not a single outside transmission received.
As the years went by, the hope of rescue dwindled and eventually died. The little planet stopped throwing their limited resources into the empty chasm of space, and instead all efforts were redirected into rebuilding and sustaining those that were living on the surface. The population of Galvatrax IX resigned themselves to the truth that they were forgotten and abandoned by the rest of the universe.
Elsewhere in the galaxy, Prince Kaix al Cirgolfon III had been assassinated and Hofdraal had fallen. An intergalactic war was ignited as the Co'fan Empire, the Velbrei Republic, and the Zegnor Conglomerate sought to control the Great Dysvox Throne. The last of the Laedroth were being hunted to extension and the once proud Jokdin nation had been forced into slavery. The Ekr Cluster was smothered in radiation, the Wakgo'n System was burning, the Aeehli Colony was underwater, and the entire moon of Qizar reduced to rubble.
But the lost planet remained utterly unaware of the troubles beyond their horizon.
Here on Galvitrax IX, a new day dawned. The fresh smell of bread wafted up from Korvan's bakery as a boy laughed and chased his pet banoof through the alleyway. A trio of elderly Jokdin started up a game of puzpai in the park. From a distance, the gentle music of a stringed maldoia could be heard as a young lady practiced Yvath's Concerto in E Major. And a Laedroth artist dusted off their watercolors and began painting a scene of the peaceful city streets.
It was good day to be lost in the empty void of outer space.
